Credit cards are usually abused by purchasing non-essentials. A short-term student loan is to hold you over until the next paycheck and you are borrowing for vital items like heating bills or food. In just about all cases these loans are paid back immediately with little interest built up.

Bear in mind that a good percentage of the people taking these payday loans do not have credit cards to fall back upon, a good thing in many ways. Everything is relative and if you pay back your payday loan promptly it is both beneficial to the borrower who saved himself from dire consequences and for the lender who made money yet helped another individual. Let us not condemn responsible payday loans or short term loans wholesale.
