Understanding Celiac Disease

June 1st, 2010 by admin

The initial step in controlling ‘celiacs diseaseis by a modification of diet. The disease is brought on by an allergic reaction to products containing gluten such as cereals and pasta.

Speak with your doctor who will advise you on what kind of foods are safer to eat. A diet of fresh vegetables and fruit, meat, rice, beans and potatoes is important and eliminating alcoholic drinks such as root beer, vodka, beer and gin will also help.

If you do consume cereals then make sure they do not consist of barley, malt or wheat. Yoghurt’s should be natural and not flavoured and skimmed, whole or condensed milk is safe to drink.

‘Celiac Disease’ can affect anyone of any age and it is important to catch the disease in the early stages if entirely possible.
