Filing Your 1040EZ Online Doesn’t Mean the Government Will Cash Your Check Faster

You may think that if you take the time to file your 1040ez online that if you owe money that the government will take it from you too fast. Many people, believing this misconception, will then opt to file their taxes the old fashioned way. The truth, however, is that if you owe money, it takes the same amount of time for the government to cash your check if you file online as it does if you file via hard copy. The bottom line is that they don’t even wait to read through your taxes. When they receive your tax return, they open the envelope, mark in the computer system that a check was received and they cash it. The time it takes is the same, so avoid mistakes and file online.
