How Glutamine Can Increase Muscle Mass

November 19th, 2009 by admin

Glutamine is an amino acid and for those trying to build muscle it is arguably the most important. This non-essential amino acid can be found in dairy products, fish, meats, beans and poultry, and plays a critical role in the synthesis and maintenance of muscle tissue.

Interestingly enough, glutamine has the ability to increase muscle mass without even reaching the muscles. Because this amino acid is high in demand throughout the body it will simply go to the area where it is needed most. In doing this, glutamine can increase the integrity of the immune system while leaving muscle proteins intact.
